The most memorable of these experiences were the delightful afternoon tea sessions in the United Kingdom, where the charm of English teacups and the decadence of marmalade, mille-feuilles, and meringues left an indelible mark.

Tea Time Dictionary
Cream Tea
A simple tea, service, consisting of stones, clotted, cream, marmalade, or lemon, curd, and tea. Elevensies is morning coffee hour in England.
Afternoon tea
What we imagine all teas to be. An afternoon meal, served typically from 2 to 4 PM, which includes the tears of smart little crust, sandwiches, scones, clotted, cream, curd, 2 to 3 sweets, and heaps of tea.
Low Tea
This is still an afternoon tea, but called “low tea because guest succeeded in low arm chairs with low side tables on which to place their cups and saucers.
Royale Tea
A social tea served with champagne at the beginning or Sherry at the end.
Celebration Tea
Another variation of afternoon tea with a celebratory cake, which is also served alongside the other sweets.
High Tea
Eaten in the late afternoon or early evening, consisting of a cooked dish, bread and butter, and tea. Families with servants often took High Tea on Sundays.
